If you hear loud noises and see lots of police officers and deputies at schools this week, don’t be alarmed! The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is conducting active assailant training for all School Resource Deputies, School Resource Officers, and Safe School Officers. The sessions will be held on Thursday, July 31, at East Ridge Middle School and on Friday, August 1, at Umatilla High School, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The interactive training will include simulated gunfire and student actors to create real-life situations. Thank you to all involved for everything you do to keep our Lake County Schools campuses safe!

Tonight, history was made.
The first graduating class of Lincoln Park Education Center walked across the stage and into a future they built through hard work, determination, and heart. These students didn’t follow a path—they created one.
Every late night, every obstacle, every moment of doubt led to this. Many of our seniors balanced school with jobs, caregiving, and real-life responsibilities. They faced challenges most never see, but they kept showing up, kept pushing forward, and refused to give up.
They are proof that where you start doesn’t define where you can go.
To the Class of 2025—you are more than our first graduates. You are the foundation. The example. The inspiration.
You will always be the first. And we will always be proud.
