HUGE Thank you and shout out to Susan Parent with the Christmas for Children for donating 10 food and house supply baskets for families in need at Spring Creek Charter. These baskets include food, paper goods, gift cards, dental hygiene products, and blankets graciously donated by Data Graphics, Inc. in Mount Dora. We also thank our local dentists Dr. Teddy Bland at Mid Florida Pediatric Dentistry and Dr. Tim Pruett at Lakeview Dentistry for the dental hygiene products and Winn Dixie in Tavares and Publix at Loch Leven for their donation of food. Special thank you to Lake County Sheriff's Office's Lieutenant Tim O'Brien who delivered the baskets to Spring Creek. It is amazing when a community comes together for the students and their families!

Spring Creek Charter Family Day is approaching! We are excited to see our families come to eat with their children. Here are some reminders for the big day:

Reminder on Early Release Days this week:

Spring Creek Charter Look for the Awesome Awards for December are in! Congrats to all!!!
Kelly Ferrie presented the first Awesome Award for December for two outstanding individuals and their team who are vital to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students as they travel to and from school on the bus. A majority of Spring Creek students use our buses as transportation to and from school. With the commitment and knowledge of these two team leaders we have created a safe and efficient transport system for our children. These ladies not only lead a team of bus drivers but they also communicate with other departments on campus, service buses, crunch numbers in the FOCUS system for transportation federal funding during FTE season, and build relationships with students and families. They have taken on the role of leadership as a team and work collaboratively to make sure SCCS buses run successfully and safely. Congratulations, Debbra Gunnels and Midge Thomas–We appreciate you and your whole team of drivers!
The second Awesome Award was presented by the Kindergarten team to SCCS music teacher, Peggy Holland, who wears many hats to include: teaching music and band classes, organizing concerts , showcasing student music talent in parades, leading the chorus, and providing the school with family engagement opportunities including our school Veteran's Day Program and Kindergarten Snow Show.
The following is the heartfelt message the Kindergarten Team presented at the meeting:
"When thinking about the person that we wanted to give this award to, the song “Miss United States” from Miss Congeniality came to mind. We enrolled the help of chatGPT to change the lyrics of the song to fit our person and it somehow perfectly hit what we were all thinking. We will NOT be singing today, so use your imagination when I read this:
“From the classroom to the stage,
Inspiring minds of every age,
With every note and melody,
Unlocking creativity.
She teaches us to find our voice,
To sing, to play, to make a choice,
To let the music set us free-
A gift for all eternity!
She’s our music teacher great,
Guiding us to harmonize and celebrate.
Through every tune, she elevates,
She’s our teacher, so first rate!”
Ms. Holland, we appreciate all of your hard work. You are part of the awesome that we love to see!"

Reminder: All dental permission forms that went home with students last week are due tomorrow Friday, December 13th for our school nurse to schedule appointments for students.

Special Called Board Meeting Notice for Spring Creek Charter School. All meetings are open to the public for attendance.

Join us for Spring Creek's STEAM night and our School Science Fair on 12/12/24. Mark your calendars and we hope to see you there! This is a fun night of themed, engaging activities and an opportunity to enjoy all the science projects students have dedicated time on this year.

Food Service Price Increase Notice:
I hope this email finds you well as we head towards winter break.
We are reaching out to our school to let everyone know that Meal Prices are going to be increased as of January 6th, 2025, upon student's return to class. These increases come as a result of our current, and ongoing, Administrative Review. These increases will be for our entire Food Service Program and will take place at all 3 of our schools to maintain program integrity.
As a reminder, both Spring Creek and Altoona are both CEP (Free), so there was no need to list Student Paid and Reduced pricing changes. All other pricing changes are the same across all 3 schools.
We are actually a bit behind the curve on this but have been working with the State to remain in compliance and have a sustainable Food Service Program. This increase will affect the majority of our meal pricing, based on the data collections of their USDA calculator Tools utilized to make the final decision on the correct Meal Pricing.
Please see the attached image for the exact changes that are taking place. Also, this document mentions the State requirements on making this knowledge open to the public, via websites and social media platforms.
Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks in advance,
Mikael P. Hiller
Director of Food Services
