Welcome to Tavares High School’s 2024 Homecoming Week! This year, we’re throwing it back with our theme, Retro Revival: A Classy Throwback to the Chic '50s & '60s. Get ready for a week filled with fun, competition, and school spirit as we celebrate in true vintage style!
Saturday 9/28 - Sunday 9/29:
Event: Parade Float Building
Time: 8:00 AM- 2:00 PM
Details: Clubs, sports, and classes can come to the track in their designated set up areas to prepare their floats for Monday’s parade.
Monday: Sept 30
Event: Homecoming Parade
Time: 6:00 PM
Details: The parade will showcase floats, the marching band, and student organizations, all themed around the 1950s and 1960s to kick off the homecoming week. Gates for setup will open at 3:00. Parade participants must be in their designated staging areas by 5:30 for the parade to begin at 6:00.
Tuesday: Oct. 1
Event: Trivia Night
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: THS Auditorium
Details: Trivia night will feature five teams competing. There will be one team representing each grade level (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors) and one team representing the teachers. Each team will have four participants during the competition, but can have additional members who can substitute in between rounds. There's no maximum limit on team members, so everyone is encouraged to join in the fun. The questions will cover a wide range of topics, including pop culture, sports, history, geography, and math, ensuring a challenging and diverse competition. Each round will allow teams to strategize and substitute players based on the upcoming category. Admission to the event is a canned food item to support our Gobble Fest food drive.

Event: Annual Hoopla: Powderpuff Games & Carnival
Time: 4:00 PM- 8:00 PM
Location: THS Dr. Boggus Stadium
Details: The annual Hoopla will host this year's powderpuff games, as well as carnival games, and food trucks. Underclassmen homecoming royalty will also be announced at the event. Show out to support your class and have an amazing night! After all the fun games, close the night with smores by the bonfire.

Event: Pep Rally
Time: 1:20-2:20
Location: THS Dr. Boggus Stadium
Details: The week culminates with our spirited pep rally, preparing us to cheer on our football team for the big game! Don’t forget to dress in your school colors.
Sat: Oct 5
Event: Dance
Time: 8-11
Location: THS Dr. Boggus Stadium
Details: $50 each, or $40 if class dues have been paid. Tickets can be purchased from Mrs. Connolly in her portable during periods 1, 4, and 6.

Decade Duo Day: Find a friend and dress up as your favorite dynamic duo from decades of the past or present!
Tuesday
Teen Beach Movie: The decade long feud between bikers and surfers is revived in this high spirited rivalry! Choose a side and dress as a totally tubular surfer or a revved-up biker renegade!
Wednesday
Class Color Wars: The classes prepare for their highly competitive powder puff games on Wednesday night by dressing in their class colors from head to toe! Freshmen wear yellow, sophomores wear green, juniors wear blue, and seniors wear black! Students are encouraged to wear their class spirit shirt that they receive when they pay their dues to their class sponsors.
Thursday
Decade Deceptions: Wear a “white lie” shirt made by writing an obvious lie on a white T- Shirt, or by writing it on a paper taped onto any shirt. For example: a student with blonde hair can wear a shirt with “I’m a brunette” written on it.
Friday
School Spirit Day: Dress out in your best school colored outfits to support our bulldogs as they take on the homecoming football game! Spread school spirit by going all out in red and white and attending Friday’s pep rally!
